Not enough business is always one of our biggest challenges in the Hair Industry.

I really believe, and have proven it to myself, that if you do certain things, it is inevitable that you are going to make a lot of money as a successful RICH! Hairdresser. 

Most Hairdressers that are reaching out to me ask: “HOW DO I GET MORE CLIENTS?”. It doesn’t matter if they've been in the business for awhile, or just out of school - they're all in the same boat - continually searching for ways to get more clients sitting in their chairs. 

My goal is to help and advise Hairdressers that aren’t really making the kind of money that they thought that they would be making in this business.  

ITS ’s ALL ABOUT THE BASICS! 

To me, making a lot of money means HAVING MORE FREEDOM! If you don’t have enough money, it can cause a lot of stress and worry and you end up asking yourself: “ How can I pay my booth rent?” “ How can I pay my babysitter?” “Why can’t I afford to go out this weekend?” 

IF YOU ARE CONSTANTLY WORRYING ABOUT MONEY ISSUES, THEN IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE! 

The latest trend is to spend your time marketing and going to networking events and 

doing full-on advertising, making the perfect logo, designing a cool website, facebook page, branding yourself, charity giveaways, etc.. I think a lot of us get caught up in these marketing strategies. We think we have to have all of it down to bring in that potential clientele.. IT’S SO FUN!! 

You really need to concentrate on how you can get to that point of making enough money to experience self and financial freedom, and not just think about how to market yourself. 

Don’t get me wrong! I believe in all the good marketing techniques that are out there and teach many classes on how to do them successfully. 

But maybe you need to make sure you are really really good at what you do before you continue working so much on advertising. Because what if they come and you’re not THAT great? What difference does it make if you have the right business card?! WHAT IF THEY DON’T COME BACK TO YOU? If you suck, or even if you’re mediocre, how would you ever make a lot of money? 

The Most Important Thing In Becoming a Rich Hairdresser 

YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAND YOUR CLIENT A MIRROR AND HAVE THEM LOVE IT!! 

What would happen if you took charge of your hours and you spent your down time improving or learning new skills? What if, instead of you taking three or four hours to make a logo, you spend the time watching a video or going to a class that’s an all day event? There is so much education on YouTube, just click it and watch it. Imagine what that would do for your confidence and business growth compared to making that logo!! 

There are basically three priorities in becoming a Rich Hairdresser that I continue to believe in, and teach in my classes - Education, Setting Goals, and Money Mindset. 

EDUCATION IS NUMBER ONE!! 

There are so many Hairdressers that are actually really good, probably in your own area..

In my town we have a ton of hairdressers and many of them are experts at what they do.

I was in a salon at Newport Beach where the top guy was making $5000 a day and the rest of us were pulling in around $1500 a day! And it wasn’t just because our prices were so out of range, it was because of the way we worked the business, and that we were good enough and confident enough to make that kind of income in that kind of upscale environment. 

If you get good at something and you know you’re good, then you become confident. Then people want to be around you because you are confident. You don’t want to be “average” because statistically the “average” Hairdresser only makes 25 to 30 thousand dollars a year. 

YOU REALLY HAVE TO UP YOUR GAME!! 

I also teach more about what kind of education and where to go for the best. I graduated from Toni and Guy back when the original art team was there, and then went to Sassoon and Paul Mitchell. I personally sacrificed a lot for a couple years… it’s expensive and not easy. But it put me in a different class of Hairdressers and it put me with the “ Big Boys” So, in the long run it’s worth it. It’s just that you've got to be able to break down exactly how you can afford it. ( I teach that in a class too :) There are tricks with these companies where you don’t have to pay full price every time you want to go to a class. 

If you’re not really good, you're not going to be busy. You’ll be okay, but you’re not going to be busy enough to fulfill your dreams of self and financial freedom. 

THE HURDLE THAT A LOT OF HAIRDRESSERS CAN’T SEEM TO GET OVER IS LEARNING TO EXCEL! 

Even if you’ve been doing hair for a while...even for me…..sometimes if I’m starting to feel like “ugh another day”. All I do is take a class or learn something new and I feel inspired and rejuvenated. It’s a good feeling to know that you’ve still “got it” or you can still learn, or that “You can teach an old dog new tricks!” 

 Of course, I teach a lot of different ways to get more clients, but Education is my Number One.
